Fitness goals, backed by your own money

put money on it.
then go get it back.

Stake from $2 on a goal you set yourself. Do the work and you crack the Lock — your stake comes straight back. Come up short and you're locked out, and it goes where you chose up front.

  • Stakes from $2 to $25
  • Verified from apps you already use
  • Nothing to log in Lockd
Lockd's home screen, titled “your locks”. A card reads “At stake right now, $15, across 1 Lock, next settles in 3 days”. A warning below it reads “No tracker connected — without one, this Lock will settle as missed, even if you do the work.” Under “In progress” sits one active Lock for $15: “4 workouts of 45 min+, within 1 week”, a segmented bar showing 2 of 4 done, and “3 days left, 2 to go”.

Two ways it ends

there are only two outcomes

Lockd uses two words for them, and one of them catches people out. Worth 20 seconds now so the rest of this page reads the way it should.

Cracked

You did it

+$10

Back in your vault

You hit the goal inside the window. The Lock opens and your stake returns to your vault in full — the figure you staked, not a reduced one.

Yes — cracked is the good one.

Locked out

You came up short

−$10

Goes to your forfeit

The window closed before you got there. Your stake goes to the Spotter or charity you picked when you set the Lock — a destination you named yourself, before you signed.

And locked out is the one to avoid.

There is no third outcome. Nothing rolls over, nothing compounds, and there is nobody on the other side of it.

The gap

you already know what to do.
quitting just doesn't cost you anything.

Skipping a session is free, so it happens. Lockd puts a small, real price on it — one you set yourself, and one you get back the moment you follow through.

Lockd's opening screen: a full-bleed photograph of five people running up a steep grassy hillside, captioned “Go beyond, be more.”

go beyond, be more.

Lockd's own opening screen. The work is still yours to do — Lockd only makes sure it's worth doing.

Set the price of quitting

how much is it worth?

Enough to sting, not enough to hurt. Move the slider and watch both endings change. This is the real range in the app — $2 to $25.

Your stake

If you crack it

+$10

Back in your vault

If you're locked out

−$10

Goes to your forfeit

Crack it and the full amount comes back — the figure you staked, not a reduced one.

Step 2 of 5 of creating a Lock, headed “how much is it worth?” with the note “Enough to sting, not enough to hurt. This is the amount you get back when you crack it.” A slider is set to $10 USDC between a $2 minimum and a $25 maximum. Two panels show both outcomes side by side: “If you crack it, $10 back in your vault” in lime, and “If you're locked out, minus $10 goes to your forfeit” in red.

Step 2 of 5 in the app.

Setting a Lock

three steps, then it's out of your hands

Once it's signed, the only thing that changes the outcome is whether you do the work.

  1. set the shape

Pick a template or build your own: how many workouts, how long each one has to be, and the window you've got to do them in. The app fine-tunes from there.

Step 1 of 5 of creating a Lock, headed “what are you committing to?” with the note “Pick a shape, then fine-tune it. Workouts are verified from your connected apps.” Three choices are offered: Gym week (4 sessions in 7 days, 45 minutes each), Run week (3 runs in 7 days, 30 minutes each), and Custom, which is selected and expands to a details panel.
Step 1 of 5 — what are you committing to?
  2. set the stake

Anywhere from $2 to $25. Both endings are shown side by side before you commit to either — the app never lets you set a stake without seeing what missing it costs.

Step 2 of 5 — how much is it worth?
  3. lock it in

A last read of the terms, then you sign with Face ID. The stake moves and the terms are fixed — you cannot quietly soften the goal halfway through the week.

Step 5 of 5 of creating a Lock, headed “lock it in” with the note “Check it over. Once you sign, the stake moves and the terms are fixed.” A panel reads “You're staking $10, USDC on Stellar”. A summary lists goal, window, stake, Spotter and what happens if locked out, each editable. The button reads “Lock in with Face ID”.
Step 5 of 5 — the review, before you sign.

Verification

Connect the app you already use

We'll verify from workouts you already track. There's nothing to log in Lockd, no timer to remember to start, and no photo to upload as proof.

Lockd reads the workouts your apps have already recorded and uses them to settle your Lock. You keep training exactly the way you do now.

  • Strava

Runs, rides and gym sessions you already post

  • Apple Health

Whatever your iPhone and Watch already record

  • Health Connect

The Android hub your tracker already writes to

When the data is messy

the benefit of the doubt is yours

Fitness data is imperfect — watches die, apps go down, sessions sync late. Here's what happens when the record isn't clean.

  1. A sync failure is never your fault

If Strava rate-limits us or a health sync drops, that is our problem, not yours. A Lock is never settled as locked out because our side of the pipe broke.

  2. Unclear goes to a human

When the data can't answer the question either way, the Lock doesn't guess. It escalates to your Spotter, who can see what happened and make the call.

  3. Silence resolves in your favour

If nobody answers within 48 hours, the Lock cracks. The default when the system is unsure is that you keep your money.

Your money

where the stake actually sits

You're putting real money down, so here is exactly what happens to it.

A vault you open with your face
Your stake sits in a vault secured by the passkey already on your phone. Face ID or a fingerprint signs it. There is nothing to write down, install or back up.
Held until the Lock settles
A staked amount goes into escrow when you sign and stays there until the outcome is known. Nothing happens to it in between — it is waiting on one question, which is whether you did the work.
You choose the forfeit up front
Before you sign, you name where the money goes if you're locked out — a Spotter you trust, or a charity. You can't be surprised by the answer later, because you wrote it.
USDC, on Stellar
Stakes are held in USDC and settle on Stellar, which is why $2 is a workable amount. That is a plumbing detail — you never touch it to use Lockd.
The review step spells out the stake, the window and the forfeit before you sign.

Straight answers

questions worth asking

The things people ask before they put money on a week of training.

Who am I staking against?

Nobody. A Lock has no other side. You are not matched against anyone, and the outcome turns on one question only: whether the workouts land inside your window. Crack it and the stake comes back in full. Get locked out and it goes to the Spotter or charity you named before you signed.

Do I get the whole stake back if I crack it?

Yes. The amount you staked is the amount that returns to your vault — the full figure, not a reduced one.

Do I have to log my workouts in Lockd?

No, and there's nothing in Lockd to log them in. You connect Strava, Apple Health or Health Connect once, then keep training exactly as you already do.

What if my watch dies or an app doesn't sync?

Then the Lock doesn't settle against you. A failure on the data side is never treated as you missing the work — it goes to your Spotter, and if nobody answers within 48 hours the Lock cracks.

Can I change the goal after I sign?

No. Once you sign, the stake moves and the terms are fixed. That is the entire point — a goal you can quietly soften on Thursday is the one you were already going to miss.

Is this a crypto app?

It uses USDC on Stellar underneath, which is why a $2 stake is even practical. You never deal with any of that: you open your vault with Face ID or a fingerprint, and there is nothing to write down, install or back up.
